Position Summary
The Associate Pastor of Discipleship will help create a culture of discipleship at Grace Church primarily through developing and implementing structures to help the people of Grace Church to know Christ and to make Christ known.

Required Character Traits
A vibrant and growing relationship with Christ as evidenced by participating in corporate worship, scripture intake, prayer, community, and accountability.
Become a member of Grace Church, affirming our belief statement, vision, values, philosophy of ministry, and fulfilling the expectations of all Grace Church members.
Fulfill the qualifications of an elder/pastor as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-8 and Titus 1:5-9.

Pastoral Leadership
Lead the Discipleship, Care, and Newcomer Teams
Serve as part of the Pastoral Leadership Team and Elder Council
Equip members to make, mature and multiply disciples
Provide pastoral counseling as needed
Preach on Sunday mornings about 4-6 times per year
Perform Weddings, Funerals and Hospital Visits as a way of ministering to the church body.
Attend all staff meetings and prayer meetings

Develop and implement discipleship structures for the Grace congregation in keeping with our strategy to engage the world around us, explore the gospel of Jesus, establish people in the faith and equip them to do the same.
Shepherd people into those structures that serve to move people forward to spiritual maturity (classes, groups, forums, resources, etc.)
Develop strategies to help the Grace community understand and exercise their spiritual gifts.
Implement various avenues for Grace church to learn, engage and practice spiritual disciplines in order to foster Christ-centered transformation.
Create new groups and settings by gathering people and equipping leaders.

Care Ministry
Provide oversight to the Pastoral Care and Counseling Ministry primarily by providing leadership to the Care team and resourcing/equipping leaders of Care Groups.
Work in concert with Pastoral Leadership/Elder Council to formulate plans for ongoing member care.
Formulate a care plan for shut-ins to ensure they are visited, prayed for, and connected.
Identify & equip lay counselors who can provide care & counseling to the church body.

Strengthen the process of identifying, welcoming and connecting newcomers on Sunday mornings.
Provide leadership and training to the First Impression Team ensuring consistency for all newcomers to Grace Church.
Oversee volunteer teams for ushers, greeters, welcome room teams, and first-contact callers.
Recruit and communicate with Sunday morning volunteers.

Prepare an annual budget for Discipleship, Care, and First Impression Teams. Actively manage spending to ensure compliance with budget.
