Associate Worship Pastor

POSITION OVERVIEW: King’s Church in Washington DC is seeking an associate worship pastor to help facilitate gospel-driven worship, discipleship, & administration in the church. The ideal candidate for this role is a theologically educated (and/or pursuing seminary) man with 2-4 years of local-church worship ministry experience; he also has the disposition and desire to work on a team alongside the pastors and staff. The job requires someone who aspires to pastoral ministry, a gifted musician and singer, teacher, thinker, and leader who is grounded in historic Christian orthodoxy and committed to the Apostles’ and Nicene creeds and King’s Church Statement of Basic Beliefs.

2-5 years of worship ministry experience is preferred.
Seminary training is preferred.
Ability/gifting to lead leaders & create healthy discipleship pathways.
Theological alignment with our Statement of Basic Beliefs.
Philosophical alignment with our Vision, Mission, and Core Values.
A team player who exhibits: humility of character, a hunger to take initiative/work
hard, and the “people skills” to care for people well.
A man demonstrating the biblical characteristics of an elder/pastor. (1 Timothy 3, Titus 1)
If applicable, a man whose family actively participates in the community life of the church.

Leads worship team on Sunday mornings.
Plan worship gatherings that are musically, artistically, culturally, and theologically thoughtful.
Recruit and coach musicians, vocalists, tech team members, and other artists, serving as the champion for worship ministry.
Lead rehearsals for weekly gatherings and special gatherings throughout the year.
Work towards continued growth in quality of music and aesthetics, with an eye and ear for what’s simple and compelling.
Work towards city wide music initiatives.
Pursue and develop discipleship relationships with men in the church.
Offer pastoral counsel & care to church members as needed.
Oversee Sunday morning operations and volunteer service teams.
Assist in the leadership development of new service team leaders.
Help assist with church interns and outside mission teams.
Help assimilate new people into the life of the church.
Keep regular office hours and participate in staff meetings & initiatives.
The associate worship pastor reports directly to the staff pastors
Job performance will be evaluated by the staff pastors & elder team
50 hours per week
Salary is $80,000/yr (to be discussed further upon job offer)
