Full Time: 40 hours per week, open to 32 hours

Organizational Summary:
The Hospitality Center shares the love of Jesus to international university students by welcoming them to the Twin Cities, connecting them to local communities through friendship, inviting them to explore Christianity, and supporting their graduation and transition into the workforce. We believe in the holistic good of every student loving them as people, not as projects. We uniquely connect volunteers to commit to loving students for their entire academic season.

Job Summary:
The Communications Director will be responsible for clearly and effectively telling our organization’s story in a way that reflects the heartbeat of our mission and the powerful impact of this important work. We are looking for someone who appreciates collaboration, who would be enthusiastic about creating messaging for the Program, Volunteer and Fundraise staff, who is a problem solver, who is highly self-motivated, and who is intentionally proactive. They are also responsible for creating and managing all media and graphic design work for the organization, as well as developing and executing the Hospitality Center’s communication strategies. This person must have strong technical skills in graphic design, social media, and in working with a variety of multimedia formats (print, web, video, etc) and have strong verbal and written communication skills.

Primary Responsibilities:
Communicate with a range of constituents (donors, students, volunteers, churches, ministries and staff) through printed and electronic media.
Develop and implement an organizational communication plan.
Create, write, edit, and produce publications, videos, newsletters, social media content, as well as printed materials, such as but not limited to; brochures, invitations, company letterhead, business cards, training manuals, strategic plans, and annual reports.
Update and maintain the organization’s website, online publications, and social media.
Provide marketing support to volunteer, fundraising and program departments.
Develop all printed and electronic media for all organizational events, including the annual Friendraiser.
Help launch and oversee the Hospitality Center Podcast

Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in communication, design, or marketing preferred.
Demonstrates excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
Excellent and prompt written and verbal communication skills.
Effective in managing timelines and project budgets.
Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously and successfully.
Energetic and personable; takes initiative, follows up, and thinks creatively.
Strong computer skills in Word, Excel, Weebly, Canva, Design Layout Software, MailChimp, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
Experience with website and newsletter production and message development.
Nonprofit experience is a plus.
Promotes and adheres to the organization’s mission, vision, values, and policies and applicable laws in a fair and equitable manner.

Qualities of the Ideal Candidate:
Highly Missional. Able to articulate the Christian faith. Active member of a local church. Agreement with the Hospitality Center’s statement of faith and mission. Has a strong desire to use their gifts and talents to positively impact Christian ministry.
Desire to learn: Constantly desires to improve skills, learn from the excellence of others and can receive collaborative feedback.
Self-Motivated and takes initiative: Does not require extensive directions. Is skilled at taking an idea and running with it.
Reliable and consistent: Gets the job done, on time, and with excellence.
Relational: Values and has a proven track record of developing strong healthy relationships. Desires to be a contributing member of the team who desires their good as well as his or her own.
Communication: Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills. Capable of clear, creative, passionate, and grammatically correct communication.

Travel and Work Schedule:
Available for primarily in-office hours.
Occasional availability needed for evenings and weekends.

Compensation:
Full-time, salaried, exempt. $48,000–$53,000 DOE (if 40 hours).
Mileage reimbursement.
15 days of PTO, plus 11 paid holidays, plus 2 paid Sabbatical days.
A compensatory time off policy to allow for flexible hours when working beyond a normal work week.
This position does not currently include any medical or retirement benefits.
