Purpose of Position: The purpose is three-fold. 1) to provide administration and oversight for the Children’s ministry and to support the volunteers who serve. 2) to provide care for our children through programing, discipleship, and encouragement. 3) to provide creative outreach opportunities to neighborhood children living in the Near South and Everett Neighborhoods, with a special focus on those attending Everett and McPhee Elementary Schools.

Identifies with the culture, vision, and mission of Grace Chapel.
Holds to Reformed theology and/or is willing to come under the covering of Grace Chapel’s leadership for areas of Reformed theology that are still being processed, especially infant baptism.
Excited to be a key player in a small-team, large-ministry setting.
Relational/vocational synergy with the Pastor of Youth and Family.
Key attributes would include positive attitude, a servant’s heart, takes initiative, and takes ownership of ministry responsibilities.
Has both “up-front” and “behind-the-scenes” skills.
Effective at volunteer recruitment and able to lovingly hold people accountable to their commitments.
Needs to be excited about, have a heart for, and be comfortable in engaging outreach to the neighborhood.
Oversee the recruitment of volunteers, and the planning, organization, and implementation of Check-in, Nursery, Sunday School, and Children’s Church Ministries.
Assist the Pastor of Youth and Family in creating and implementing the vision for Children’s Ministry.
Pray regularly for children, nursery staff, and ministry volunteers.
Supervise and coordinate paid nursery staff.
Manage the Children’s Ministry budget.
Coordinate Children’s Ministry opportunities during special seasons of the year (i.e. Eastertide) and special events (i.e. Fall Fest, VBS).
Develop outreach opportunities, focusing on neighborhood children.
Enhance elementary school partnerships with Everett and McPhee Elementary Schools.
Order/purchase all necessary materials and supplies for the Children’s ministry.
Meet regularly with the Pastor of Youth and Family.
Ensure that Grace Chapel safety policies and procedures are being faithfully followed and reflect best practices.
Get the congregation psyched about kids ministry!
Attend weekly staff meetings.
In conjunction with the Pastor of Youth and Families, evaluate and streamline on-going ministries, develop new ministries, and end ministries that no longer are necessary.
