Part-time role to lead, develop, organize, and coordinate the worship ministry.

Ministry description
To develop and lead the worship music ministry for our church, in consultation with the teaching pastor and other team members, in a way that is consistent with our mission, values and theology.
Salary: dependent on experience and education
Hours: 15-20 hours/week
Sunday worship service (4 ½ hours)
Weekly rehearsal (3 hours)
Prep for worship, song selection, arrangements, scheduling volunteers, personal skill development
(8 hours)
Weekly meeting with the teaching pastor (1 hour)
Monthly meeting with the Worship Council (1 hour)

· Authentic relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord
· Ability to shepherd volunteer musicians in the Christian life
· Willing to join the membership of Highland Community Church upon hiring, in agreement with our statement of faith.
· Ability to organize and coordinate musicians and technical team members
· Sense of humor and positive attitude
· Strong team player with the rest of the staff and congregation
· Dependable, responsible, self-motivated and creative
· Ability in wide range of styles of Christian music with a focus on contemporary music
· Ability to lead and direct worship and to train others as individuals and team members
· Proficient in keyboard or guitar
· Ability to produce and direct special events and programs
· Experience with technical aspects of contemporary services: sound boards, lighting, video streaming. Intermediate computer skills including MS Office, Google Docs and projection software

· Meet with the teaching pastor as needed to select songs in advance
· Plan corporate worship elements (songs, readings, prayer, etc.)
· The worship director will lead in such a way that:
o Congregational singing will be highly valued; this includes attention to the key and range of songs, song selection, and leading in such a way that people are drawn to participate in worship and not just experience worship
· Preparation to lead practice and Sunday morning worship includes:
o Personal practice of the songs to ensure knowledge and comfort leading of the team
o Communication with musicians about practices and songs for the upcoming week
o Providing the necessary music sheets/links to musicians in advance to ensure they have what is needed to prepare at home for the upcoming week’s practice
o Create and update musician/singers/technicians schedule
o Ensure back-up worship leader is in place before making plans to be away
o Recruit, equip, supervise and shepherd music team and technical team
o Load songs into computer (ProPresenter)
o File music, prepare binders for musicians
o Prepare Order of Service
o Prepare and coordinate special numbers from time to time
o Provide required reports for CCLI
o Prepare music and schedule practices for all-church events such as a Christmas Eve, Easter, Thanksgiving, etc.
· Communicate with the student ministries director regarding youth worship teams.
· Provide input to the annual worship council budget
