QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Meet the spiritual, personal, and character qualifications of an elder found in 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:6–9 and exhibit the fruit of the Spirit as found in Galatians 5:22.
Be a man of prayer and a man of the Word, sensitive to the Spirit, devoting himself to daily prayer and Bible reading for the sake of guarding himself against sin and stirring up his heart and mind to renewed passion for Christ. Lead his family in regular times in the Word and prayer; and will gladly participate in mutual care and accountability with other believers.
Seek to undertake his duties in the power of the Holy Spirit, undergirded with prayer, guided by the Scriptures, and manifesting the character of Christ for the glory of God.
Be a member in good standing of Huber Heights First Baptist Church.
Understand, endorse, and teach, without reservation, the church’s biblical and theological teaching, as expressed in the Statement of Faith and Church Covenant (through membership).
While ensuring that his first loyalty is to God and the Word, the Minister will support the leadership of the church generally and specifically that of the Elders. The Minister will report directly to the Pastor of Preaching and Vision and serve in partnership with the Elders.
The Minister will strive to maintain positive and fruitful relationships with other HHFBC employees, members, and leaders. While concerns or differences of opinion may arise, the Minister will communicate biblically and abide by appropriate supervisory direction and any final determinations of the Elders.
Whether leading the congregation or submitting to those in authority over him, the Minister will do so in a joyful manner. While visionary, he will have his ear to the ground and be a good listener.
Have the vision and humility necessary to work effectively, creatively, and flexibly within the context of a church with multiple staff members, volunteers, and ministries.
Direct congregational worship at all regularly scheduled worship services.
Prepare plans for corporate worship in conjunction with the Pastor of Preaching and Vision, which magnifies the Glory of God through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, center upon God’s word, and prepare the congregation for the preaching of God’s word.
Prepare the worship team to lead congregation music effectively, technically, musically, and spiritually.
Cultivate and oversee a rotation of worship team members to lead in weekly worship.
Recruit and develop new musicians to join the worship team.
Develop and give oversight to the Worship Ministry throughout all areas and ages groups of the Church (children, youth, and adults).
Provide for music and worship needs for any other needed areas within the church.
Provide musical and biblical training for team members as needed.
Oversee technical and equipment needs in conjunction with the sound team.
Manage the Worship Ministry budget to include the purchasing, maintenance, and replacement of all music-related equipment, supplies, and instruments.
Oversee and manage Sunday School and midweek programs, ensuring a Christ-exalting ministry for children and adults in a manner consistent with the theology, vision, and philosophy of ministry articulated in our stated values.
Oversee and manage the curriculum and content of the teaching employed in our ministries and programs to ensure that it accords with our Statement of Faith, is age- appropriate, and rightly exalts Christ.
Provide oversight and guidance to Small Group Gospel Impact Ministries.
Provide oversight and guidance to the Men’s and Women’s Ministries.
Coordinate with the Children and Youth Ministers to coordinate and develop curriculum and strategy as it relates to the Discipleship Ministry (Sunday School/ Children’s Church)
Evaluate needs related to space, budget, Bible study curriculum, supplies, and other resources and recommend needed actions.
Oversee the recruitment, training, and support of all paid and volunteer staff required for Discipleship Ministries (e.g., Sunday School, Wednesday Night Studies).
Provide discipleship and teaching as needed in New Member Classes and other regular opportunities.
Congregational Care (Shepherding)
Seek opportunities to build up individual church members through prayer, hospitality, and discipleship.
Participate with Elders and Deacons in visitation opportunities (e.g., shut-ins, sick, visitors).
Support the body through biblical counseling (e.g., spiritual, marriage, crisis).
Seek to serve in other areas within the body according to giftedness in conjunction with the Elders and other Staff.
Serve as a Church Elder caring for the needs of the body, as the Minister is affirmed as an Elder.
Attend Elder meetings and provide shepherding to the church members.
