The family and student pastor gives oversight and leadership to all areas of children’s ministry, student (youth and college) ministry, and shares the responsibility to shepherd the whole flock of God in cooperation with pastors and elders.

Give Oversight And Leadership To All Areas Of Children’s Ministry

– Cast Vision and Provide Leadership For Children’s & Family Ministry, In Consultation With the Lead Pastor and Pastoral Team
– Selection Of Children’s Ministry Curriculum
– Recruitment, Training, And Supervision Of Paid & Volunteer Staff
– Pastoral Care & Leadership For All Persons Involved in Children’s Ministry Team
– Keeping Church Up To Date And Compliant With Security Measures
– Planning And Executing Children’s Ministry Programs And Events
– Plan & Administer Budgets for Children’s Ministry Teams Working With Appropriate Lay Leadership
– Equip Parents To Be The Primary Disciplers Of Their Children

Shepherd The Whole Flock Of God In Cooperation With Pastors And Elders

– Consistent Prayer With And For Members Of The Church
– Pastoral Care And Counseling
– Leadership Of A LifeGroup
– Attend All Staff Meetings As Directed, Participate in Planning and Play a Role in Leading Regular and Special Worship Services As Directed
– Preach And Teach As Needed
– Assist In Casting Vision For And Building Up The Church
– Lead And Serve As Required For Church-Wide Events And Programs

The Reporting and Other Work Relationships

– Reports Directly to the Lead Pastor and Ultimately to the Elder Board
– Works Closely With Volunteers In This Ministry to Develop Planning & Programming of Student & Family Programs & Events
– Serves as Part of the Pastoral Staff With Responsibilities as Assigned

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

– A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a vital, growing, personal relationship with Him
– A personal passion for discipling students, for equipping parents and all believers for ministry, and for doing “the work of an evangelist”
– A heart for the spiritual formation and pastoral care of the congregation as a whole, and especially of children and students
– Committed to moral purity and accountability
– Evidence of godly relationships with his wife and family
– Meets all qualifications for pastors/elders (1Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; 1 Peter 5:1-4) and gives evidence of a shepherd’s heart
– Committed to the theology, mission, and discipleship vision of SCBC
– Baccalaureate degree and seminary education desirable, although consideration may be given for other equivalent training and experience
– Track record of successful congregational ministry
