Thank you to the 100+ of you who attended our breakout session at the Desiring God Conference for Pastors last Tuesday at the Minneapolis Convention Center. At the session, President Tim Tomlinson presented his vision of Bethlehem College & Seminary. Three Scripture passages were key: 1 Corinthians 1:20-21, Colossians 1:15-18, and 2:1-3.
Tim said,
“Do you see the common themes here? The wisdom of the world is foolishness to God and Christ is at the center of all things. In our view, all learning must be informed and tempered by these two magnificent truths. If the wisdom of the world is foolishness to God, then wouldn’t we be wise to know the One who knows far more than the wisdom of the world can even comprehend? And if Christ is truly at the center of all things, then wouldn’t we be wise to know and understand the One to whom all things owe their very existence? We want our students to have a “true knowledge of God’s mystery” and to discover “all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” in Jesus Christ. Only then can they most accurately and properly understand the world in which they live and how they should live in it. Our desire is to help students become outstanding thinkers who know the Bible and are not only able to apply it to all of life, but who live their lives in radical, world-changing ways for the advancement of the Gospel.”
