Job Description:
The ideal candidate will have a pastoral impulse with the skills of an executive pastor.
Work in coordination with the other full-time pastor, the elder and deacon teams, the church administrator, and others. The
role is designed to be catalytic in each area, not isolated.
Depending on current abilities, initially preach 4-12 times per year. Additional teaching opportunities are available according
to desire and gifting.
Share in general pastoral care for the flock along with the other full-time pastor and the lay elder team.
Minister in additional ways according to gifting, passions, and bandwidth, such as pastoral counseling or musical leadership.
For candidates previously unknown to CrossWay, the role may require two years of service before eligibility to be a voting elder.
CrossWay’s polity does not single out a senior pastor; the elder team delegates ministry tasks to full-time staff and others. The
candidate would be expected to enter the elder candidacy program, gaining eldering experience and testing before being presented
to the congregation to vote as one of their elders.
Qualifications:
Completed some formal theological education, such as a Bachelor’s in Bible or MDiv, with willingness to obtain an MDiv within a
reasonable time period.
Willing to pursue ordination within the EFCA, to be completed within three years of the start date.
Able to wholeheartedly affirm the EFCA Statement of Faith and the clarifications laid out in the EFCA document “Where We Stand.”
Able to wholeheartedly affirm CrossWay’s member Statement of Faith and Church Affirmations, the particular theological positions
that guide CrossWay’s teaching.
Theological, philosophical, and relational compatibility with CrossWay.
