The Bethlehem College & Seminary Inaugural Convocation, took place on October 3, 2010, at the downtown campus of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Nearly 700 people turned out for the Inaugural Convocation event. The BCS staff and faculty are humbled and blessed. Institutional delegates from the United States, and other visitors from Latin America, England, and Africa attended the event.
During the course of the convocation, BCS formally installed John Piper as chancellor, Tim Tomlinson as president, and the BCS faculty. It was a public declaration of our intentions to fulfill the calling and mission that we believe the Lord has given BCS. We all felt the weight of the responsibility which we have now taken on and the accountability for fulfilling those responsibilities to which we will be held. The Lord was powerfully present throughout the evening and many people were visibly moved. The combination of heartfelt worship (the congregational singing was rapturous!), powerful words from Albert Mohler, John Piper, Tom Steller and others, and the solemnity of the academic ceremony, contributed to a memorable, historic, and inspiring event.
