derouchie_profileBethlehem College and Seminary announces Jason S. DeRouchie as Associate Professor of Old Testament beginning Fall 2009. Dr. DeRouchie brings to BCS broad teaching, writing, and pastoral experience. He also comes with a passion to exalt Christ through the Old Testament, to confront the world with biblical truth, and to train the next generation of church leaders how better to handle their Hebrew Bibles.

DeRouchie has authored a book on OT discourse analysis (Gorgias, 2007), co-authored with Duane A. Garrett a beginning Hebrew grammar and workbook (B&H Academic, 2009), and is presently overseeing an OT thematic survey (Kregel) and writing a commentary on Deuteronomy (Zondervan).

DeRouchie will be leaving the position of Assistant Professor of Old Testament Studies and Hebrew at Northwestern College in St. Paul, MN, where he has served since 2005. Before this, he served as a pastor of discipleship in southern Indiana while completing his Ph.D. at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. At Bethlehem College and Seminary, DeRouchie will give oversight in the area of Old Testament and teach and write for the seminary in his areas of specialization: Deuteronomy, Old Testament biblical theology, Hebrew language, and Old Testament discourse analysis.

Dr. DeRouchie and his wife, Teresa, have been married since 1994, and God has blessed them with three children—Mary Jane, Ruthie, and Isaac. As a family, the DeRouchies enjoy camping, hiking, canoeing, and moose-watching. They also love academic ministry and praise the Lord for bringing them to Bethlehem College and Seminary.
