Making Christ Known and Loved

At Bethlehem College & Seminary, we care deeply about spreading a passion for the supremacy of God in all things for the joy of all peoples through Jesus Christ. I was especially reminded of this because of our Global Focus week at Bethlehem Baptist Church. We believe that missions is not an end in itself, but a means to a greater goal–worship of the Triune God. In other words, missions is the gathering of worshippers who know and love God from every tongue, tribe, people, and language.

What is so amazing is that this is God’s very heart. “For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea” (Habakkuk 2:14). It doesn’t say, “should.” It doesn’t say, “might,” but “will.” If God’s greatest passion is for his own name to be known and loved, then there can be nothing more sure than the spread of the gospel and the building of the church. We can confidently trust God to move and make himself known and cherished.

There is therefore no greater endeavor then to make Christ known and cherished, whether in our backyard, at a coffee shop, or across the world. We must see Christ’s name cover the globe “as the waters cover the sea.”
This is the goal that drives us to rigorously study the Bible, to pursue God in worship, and to spread Christ’s name. This is no small thing. We want to teach others to glorify God by enjoying him forever.

As part of our endeavor to be part of this great mission, Bethlehem College & Seminary, in partnership with Biblemesh, has begun a new initiative called Bethlehem Institute Online. Bethlehem Institute Online is the virtual extension of the Bethlehem Institute, our non-credit program division. Our hope is that these classes will serve everyone, from elders of churches, to missionaries in the Middle East, to the average person wanting to see more of Christ in his Word. Please pray with us that God would see fit to use us in this holy task.
