Creation: A Love Sonnet

Share

At First, God spoke, the Spirit moved, worlds made.
Light flashed and Night’s cool beauty God deemed good.
The Second movement: and expanse God bade
To tear water from earth, here Heaven stood.
Third, land and river appeared, Earth and Seas.
Plants sprung, flowers rooted, each to their kind.
Sun and Moon danced on the fourth day with ease;
At that time, God did the calendar bind.
On the Fifth day, the earth swarmed with creatures
On land and sea. God blessed them, told them “fill.”
Sixth, of dust came Man bearing God’s features.
Man and Woman, God’s own art, his great thrill.
And God rested, image of love portrayed.
And the Son shines, the Masterpiece displayed.
