This Great Act of Grace

Easter is the most profound, earth-shaking, life-transforming, holiday of them all.  If we can look past the secular trappings of bunnies, colored eggs, and candy, we will see that what this day commemorates is the most pivotal event in all of history.  Even more than Christmas, marking the incarnation of the Son of God, Easter turns history on its head. From that moment on, humanity has never been the same and never will be again.

The reality of what the Lord accomplished on the cross and with His resurrection from the dead on the third day, is breath-taking, awe-inspiring, infinitely merciful, an act of grace beyond measure, the most loving, self-sacrificial act ever committed.  And we are the recipients. This great act has eternal implications for every person in the world.

13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, 14 by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. 15 He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.  Col. 2:13-15

God intervened in the history He had created, sent His only Son to die for our sins, and then He raised him from the dead, defeating death and the power of sin once and for all.  Our sins, which have created an unpayable “record of debt” that we owe the great and holy and just God Almighty, have been forgiven, canceled, washed away. Oh, what love divine!

As you celebrate Easter this weekend, may our glorious, gracious, loving, all-forgiving God give you peace and joy without measure.

Rejoicing together with you,

Tim Tomlinson

President

Prayer Requests:

  1.  Please pray as our students and faculty as we gear up for the final weeks of the semester.  Pray that they would persevere and even thrive as they work to gain the greatest benefit from their studies.
  2. Please continue to pray for our Self-Study process which is currently underway.  We need to wrap the writing phase of this project within the next two months. We are praying for a 10-year renewal of our accreditation, which is the longest term possible.  Pray for the steering committee which is writing the Self-Study.
  3.  Please continue to be in prayer for our admissions team.  They are processing many applications for our new M.A. program as well as our undergraduate programs.  Pray for wisdom and the provision of highly qualified applicants. We would love to have full cohorts for both of those programs this fall.
  4.  Please also be in prayer for our financial opportunity before us.  We are a little more than half-way to our goal of accomplishing a $300,000 matching grant.  Pray for a remarkable outpouring of generosity in the coming weeks/months.
