Bethlehem College & Seminary is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Jonathan D. Hoglund as Associate Professor of Theology and Global Studies. He will assume his teaching responsibilities in August 2022.
“For over a decade, Jon Hoglund has faithfully taught Bible and theology in three languages in multiple cross-cultural contexts,” said Dr. Joe Rigney, President of Bethlehem College & Seminary. “He will make an excellent addition to our faculty, particularly as we seek to form men and women into world Christians by teaching the Great Books in light of the Greatest Book for the sake of the Great Commission,” he added.
Professor Hoglund completed his doctoral studies in Systematic Theology at Wheaton College Graduate School in 2015. His dissertation, Called by Triune Grace: Divine Rhetoric and the Effectual Call, was supervised by Dr. Kevin Vanhoozer and published by IVP Academic. Dr. Hoglund also holds two master’s degrees from Wheaton, one in Biblical Exegesis and the other in Historical and Systematic Theology. His scholarship has appeared in the Journal of Biblical and Theological Studies, Journal of Global Christianity, Journal of Reformed Theology, and online at The Gospel Coalition and Training Leaders International.
Dr. Brian Tabb, Academic Dean, said, “Jon Hoglund is an excellent teacher, a world-class theologian, and a faithful minister of the gospel with a passion for the nations and years of experience working in Ukraine and Vietnam. I am delighted to welcome him as the newest member of Bethlehem’s remarkable faculty.”
Professor Hoglund has maintained an active ministry in the church and to the nations since 2005. He served six years in academic ministry in Kremenchuk, Ukraine between 2005 and 2011, and he has taught at Hanoi Bible College in Vietnam since 2017. Between these global assignments, he served as Interim Youth Pastor at Grace Church of DuPage, Warrenville, Illinois. Dr. Hoglund is proficient in Russian, Vietnamese, and the biblical languages.
Dr. Hoglund is the husband of Andrea, and together they are the parents of four children.
