Job Description for Missions & Outreach Pastor

Overview: Fremont Evangelical Free Church aims to be a church that is gospel-centered, theologically robust, rooted in the Word of God, and most importantly growing in our love for Christ. We also strive to be a church that is growing in its desire to reach others with the good news of Christ. To that end, we are seeking a full-time Missions & Outreach Pastor who loves Jesus and feels called to edify, equip and lead our body of believers in reaching others with the love of Christ.

Qualifications:
• A life that models what Christ expects of all believers while being dependent upon the Spirit
• Meets the biblical qualifications of an elder as outlined in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1
• A passionate heart for missions and outreach
• An ability to share and explain the gospel to the lost
• A demonstrated heart for cross-cultural ministries (cf. Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 1:8)
• A desire to teach and train the church in the importance of outreach and mission
• Organizational and administration skills to cast a vision and develop needed programs in order to establish a healthy culture of missions and outreach in the church
• A proven ability to teach and handle the Word of God rightly
• Agreement with the Fremont E-Free Church Distinctives, Constitution, and the EFCA Statement of Faith
• Solid theological grounding / training

Responsibilities:
• Cast a vision, develop strategies and implement programs that will help our church to be more effective in reaching the lost both locally and globally with the good news of Christ
• Provide ongoing training and equipping to help members of Fremont E-Free reach the lost where they live
• Lead in ministry strategy and efforts to equip, exhort and train church members so that more members are mobilized to go to the mission field or to be senders who actively participate through prayer and giving
• Strategically plan and execute domestic and international mission trips
• Provide oversight for existing and new outreach opportunities and events in the community that both demonstrate and declare the gospel
• Oversee communication with current mission partnerships as well as develop new local and global partnerships
• Aim to raise awareness in the church of current mission and outreach activity and in general look for opportunities to champion and promote Great Commission ministry
• Communicate and model the indispensable nature of prayer in reaching the lost with the gospel
• Work in unity with the elders to lead the missions and outreach ministry in a way that is consistent with the overall direction and vision of the church
General Information: Fremont Evangelical Free Church is located in Fremont, Nebraska. Fremont is a growing community with a population of 27,000 , approximately 25 min northwest of Omaha and 50 min north of Lincoln. Our local body is currently led by five elders, two of which are full-time, paid positions. In addition, we have a full-time youth director and a part-time worship coordinator. Our average Sunday service attendance is 375-400. While the congregation formally votes on all significant matters, it is the elders that formulate and bring vision to the body for approval.
