Our Weakness Shows God’s Strength

As an instructor at Bethlehem College & Seminary, I am constantly amazed at the Lord’s work in the lives of students to prepare them for life-long ministry. I’m not just talking about the 18-year-old freshman who come to the school wide-eyed and bushy-tailed. I’m also talking about the 54-year-old seminary student, or better yet, the 66-year-old college student in our degree completion program—people who have lived life much longer, seen much more pain in the world, and experienced the love of Christ much longer than even I have. These men and women amaze me because I wouldn’t expect them to come to Bethlehem College & Seminary. Who in their right mind would return to college at 66? Who would go back to school when your brain already feels tired and your body is not working quiet the way it used to? Only those who believe that God’s power is perfected in weakness (2 Cor 12:9–10). God can strengthen the weak and equip those whom he has called.

This is what our Bachelor of Theology is about. Bethlehem College & Seminary offers a degree completion option for working adults. The classes meet four hours, one night a week for twenty months (even now during the summer!). Our hope is that during those four hours that our students are being equipped for whatever ministry God is calling them to, whether it’s a father’s ministry to her kids, a leader of a women’s bible study group, a missionary to the unreached, or someone feeling called to seminary or the pastorate. If you or someone you know feels called to these or other ministries, you might consider joining other weak people like us in beholding Christ and being transformed into his image.

Pray then, that God would equip those whom he has called into ministry through Bethlehem College & Seminary, especially those who feel the weakest. Pray for our Bachelor of Theology students, who are taking classes this summer. Pray for those who are considering going back to school and are feeling too weak to do so, that they might consider Bethlehem College & Seminary. When we are weak, then we are strong.
