Overflowing in Thanksgiving

Share

As we have just celebrated Thanksgiving Day, I am reminded of the infinite number of reasons we have to be thankful to the Lord for His amazing goodness and mercies to us.  One sumptuous feast during the year is simply not commensurate with the thanks the Lord deserves every single day from us.  And not only does He deserve our daily thanks for all that He is and does for us, but we also ought to give thanks to the many people the Lord uses to bless us day after day, month after month, year after year.

I am often overwhelmed by the generosity of so many of you who have faithfully given of your time, your prayers on our behalf, and your treasures to support Bethlehem College & Seminary.  I am so thankful for each of you because I know that there are many worthy ministries toward which you might direct your generosity.  That you have chosen to become part of our ministry through your gifts, is an amazing mercy and grace of the Lord and a testimony to your desire to invest in the next generation of God-honoring, Christ-exalting, Bible-saturated leaders for the good of the church and for the ultimate fulfillment of the great commission.

For these reasons (and many others), I give thanks to God for you.  And my prayer for you echoes what Paul wrote to the Corinthian church:

2 Corinthians 9:10–12 (ESV): He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way, which through us will produce thanksgiving to God. For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God.

We indeed are overflowing in many thanksgivings to God because of your ministry to us.  You are having a tremendous impact for the future good of the church by your investment in Bethlehem College & Seminary.  We pray that the Lord will “increase the harvest of your righteousness” as you trust in Him to supply your seeds for sowing.

May the Lord bless you all tremendously this Thanksgiving!

With deep gratitude to God and to you,

Tim

Prayer Requests:

  1. Please pray for our students and staff as well come to the end of semester in just two weeks.  Pray for finishing strong and for growth—both intellectually and spiritually—as we all encourage one another in faith and knowledge.
  2. Please pray for a strong financial finish to the calendar year over the next month.  December is our most important month of the year for financial support.  Pray that the Lord would create an extraordinary outpouring of generosity toward us over these next four weeks.
  3. Please pray also for the leadership of the school as we continue to plan for the future needs of our ministry.  Such strategic planning has never been more critical than it is right now.  Pray for wisdom, courage, and strength as we face increasing challenges from the cultural winds that are blowing strong in these days.
  4. Pray for the Lord’s leading as we seek to fill a new faculty position for next year.  Pray for the Lord to provide just the right person to fill this position.
