Crystal, MN USA
Part-time K-8 Spanish teacher, teaching at RiverTree School’s Eden Prairie and Crystal campuses. As a member of Ambleside Schools International, we are a private K–12 Christian school committed to implementing Charlotte Mason’s philosophy and method in all that we do. In our Spanish program, we primarily employ the Gouin method (training in this would be provided). Students in grades K–5 focus on listening to and speaking the language through meaningful, action-based experiences, while students in grades 6–8 begin incorporating writing and reading in Spanish alongside continued oral language development.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree (does not necessarily need to be a Spanish or Spanish Education degree, but this could be helpful)
Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish, familiar with Spanish grammar
A teaching certificate and classroom experience are added benefits, but are not required.
This position could be 24 hours per week if teaching at both campuses, or the position could be split with 8 hours at the Eden Prairie campus and 16 hours at the Crystal Campus.
Description of a RiverTree Teacher
RiverTree teachers have an active, personal faith in Jesus Christ along with a desire to live out their faith in the classroom. They love books: classic stories, fairy tales, myths and legends, history, natural science, anything well written with good ideas. They love nature, art and music and many other subjects and want to introduce these things to their students. They are lifelong learners.
RiverTree teachers desire to have a discipling relationship with ten to sixteen boys and girls teaching them the habits of attention, respect, courtesy, honesty, thoroughness, accuracy, punctuality and many more. They are comfortable with a curriculum which uses few textbooks and requires teachers to master and teach their subjects without the usual educational aids and lesson guides. Recognizing that RiverTree School exists for the purpose of implementing the method of Charlotte Mason, RiverTree teachers willingly submit to Charlotte Mason’s philosophy and become her students. They eagerly seek to increase their own knowledge by reading, discussing and attending educational internships so that they might become better teachers.
