segalPortraitWe are pleased to announce the appointment of Richard A. Segal Jr. as Vice President of Advancement and as Distinguished Lecturer of Commerce and Vocation. Segal will be responsible for donor relations and institutional communications, as well as teaching and writing related to his role as Lecturer. He will assume his position in early 2014.

“We regard it a providential blessing that God would call someone of Rick’s professional experience, global network of relationships, entrepreneurial spirit and passion for our unique mission, at this stage in Bethlehem’s history,” said BCS President Dr. Tim Tomlinson. “We are delighted to have him join our leadership team.”

Segal is currently President Worldwide & Chief Practice Officer at gyro, a global marketing and advertising agency, named earlier this year as the “Top Business-to-Business Agency” by BtoB magazine. Gyro concurrently announced that Segal will become the firm’s President Emeritus when he assumes his new role at Bethlehem. Segal was a founder of gyro, leading it from a start-up as a local industrial ad agency in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1981 to become a 600+ employee organization with offices in 14 countries around the world.

“God has broken into the exceedingly rewarding and satisfying circumstances of my professional life and called me to another work,” said Segal. “As it may please Him, I look forward to spending the rest of my days advancing the Bethlehem College & Seminary mission of spreading a passion for the supremacy of God in all things for the joy of all peoples through Jesus Christ.”

Mr. Segal also currently serves as Chairman of BPA Worldwide, the advertising industry’s self-regulating media circulation audit bureau. In addition, he is a member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the American Advertising Federation, Executive Committee of the Advertising Hall of Fame, National Board of the Business Marketing Association, Board of the Institute for the Study of Business Markets at the Small School of Business at Pennsylvania State University and Board of the Business Marketing Academy at the Kelly School of Business at Indiana University.

He has also long been active in public affairs having served previously as an aide to former Ohio U.S. Senator Robert Taft Jr., Cleveland Mayor Ralph J. Perk and as executive assistant to the Chairman of the Ohio Republican Party. He was a senior advisor to Steve Forbes in his bid for the Republican presidential nomination in 2000, and architect of Forbes’ then-groundbreaking Internet campaign. In 2003, he served as public relations chair for Billy Graham’s Mission to Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.

We give all honor and praise to the Lord for answering our prayers with regard to the hiring of Rick. We look forward to seeing what He will be pleased to do through Rick’s unique background, experience, and skills as he take on this crucial new role at Bethlehem College & Seminary.
