Woodlands Bible Church

Eveleth, MN United States

ABOUT US

Founded in 2014, Woodlands Bible Church is a non-denominational, congregational, elder led, Bible teaching Church located in Eveleth, MN. Eveleth is in the heart of mining country and is only a short drive to the BWCA, Duluth and the North Shore of Lake Superior in beautiful Northern Minnesota.

We are a growing, multi-generational ministry with 37 active members and typically 60-80 attendees on Sunday. We have people of all ages and backgrounds. When we started 12 years ago, we only had one or two children, but now, God has blessed us with approximately 40 children ages newborn to 16. This has given us a strong desire to train up the youth God has blessed us with. We do this by using the Truth 78 curriculum which teaches a BIG God theology.

Our desire is to make disciples of those God has entrusted to us, and to make an impact for the Gospel in Eveleth, to the surrounding areas, and to the outermost parts. We do this by training up the people so they can go out and do the work of the ministry. We also actively support four missionaries for the purpose of global outreach.

We are also involved in ministering to one of our local nursing homes. We do this on the first Sunday of every month after communion and potluck.

We currently have one bi-vocational elder and are looking for a full-time shepherd to lead the flock. We believe the Bible supports the idea of a plurality of elders, thus the need stated here. We also have three dedicated, godly deacons who attend to the physical needs of the ministry alongside their wives.

Our worship time together is family integrated. We believe worship is for all ages (Acts 2:43-47). We do, however, offer nursery for the very young. This frees up parents so they can participate in our time together.

Fellowship is also very important to us as we are a family and have forged deep relationships with each other. We prioritize doing life together and the “one another’s” are important to us.

We currently do not have a mortgage as God has graciously supplied all our needs at just the right time and in just the right way and trust that He will continue to do so in the future.

Our overarching aim is to glorify God, by living the Gospel, and by making disciples by the power of the Holy Spirit.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS

Woodlands is looking for a man who has the following:

  • Character – A man who loves the Lord, loves His Word, loves His church and loves his family. A man who is Biblically qualified as spelled out 1 Tim 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9. A man who recognizes the need for accountability. Careful attention will be given to how he manages his “little church” or his home.
  • Chemistry – A man who is approachable, gentle and kind. One who loves and can relate to our elderly, senior saints and our youth. As a multi-generational, multiethnic group our shepherd will need to be willing to “smell like the sheep” by being in close proximity to them, being actively engaged in their lives regardless of age, social, or ethnic backgrounds.
  • Competency – A man who is organized and is capable of identifying and managing his priorities, time and various other duties well. One who is also able to lead by example, being “a doer of the word” – living out what he preaches and teaches. With this in mind, we are looking for a man who is a student of the Word.  One who can rightly divide God’s Word and has the ability to proclaim the truth on Sunday morning as well as teach in the classroom. Woodlands has historically heard expository, verse by verse preaching and would like to continue with this way of teaching. We desire a humble servant leader, who teaches, serves, and leads the flock in living out biblical truths. A shepherd who is capable of bringing truth to bear in the day-to-day opportunities of life-on-life discipleship and counseling.

Our senior pastor will lead alongside the board of elders in the spiritual direction, and the function of the church.

Seminary training and pastoral experience are preferred but not necessarily required.

One who is trained in or has experience in Biblical counseling would be a great benefit as well.

Our senior pastor must agree with and adhere to the doctrinal statement of WBC.

A willingness to submit to an annual review by the elder board and select congregants.
