LEWIS GUEST, IV JOINS BETHLEHEM COLLEGE & SEMINARY FACULTY
Urban Neighborhood Pastor-Scholar to Teach Bible and Theology

(MINNEAPOLIS, MN) – – – November 1, 2019 – – – Bethlehem College & Seminary announced today that Lewis Guest, IV has joined the faculty as Instructor of Bible and Theology. “We have had the pleasure of watching Lewis grow as a student, as a man of God, as a scholar, and as a shepherd of the flock over the last several years,” said President Timothy Tomlinson, Ph.D. “It’s clear that Lewis loves the Lord, loves the Word of God, loves the church, and loves students. These qualities are critical for our faculty members to possess and, because of them, Lewis will be a wonderful addition to the faculty,” Tomlinson added.

Guest has served as an adjunct professor at Bethlehem since 2018. He will continue in his role as Associate Pastor of Jubilee Community Church in the Phillips and Powderhorn Park neighborhoods of Minneapolis. “I have always thanked our Triune God for Bethlehem College & Seminary,” said Guest. “Now, my thanksgiving extends even further with the opportunity to join this wonderful faculty. It is our hope, my wife Elizabeth and I, to see Christ glorified above all things in this appointment, which gladly aims at the mind-and-heart as we shape the theological education of our students,” he stated.

Pastor Guest first embraced the ministerial vocation in 2002 as a youth pastor at Word of Faith International Christian Center/Impact Church in Southfield, Michigan, and later at the church’s Orlando, Florida location. He received a Certificate in Youth Ministry from Rhema Bible Training Center, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma in 2001. He subsequently earned a Bachelors of Science in Human Services from Southeastern University, Lakeland, Florida in 2011. The Master of Divinity degree was conferred on him by Bethlehem College & Seminary in 2015. Pastor Guest is also beginning Ph.D. studies in Biblical Theology through Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He joined the pastoral staff at Jubilee in 2016. He and his wife are the parents of two young daughters.

“In 2005, I came across a hip-hop artist named Timothy Brindle, said Guest. “His sophomore album Killing Sin, which was fueled by John Owen’s classic work The Mortification of Sin. When I came to track 15, ‘The Humility of Christ,’  I was confronted with an unfamiliar voice — ‘How can one man in a matter of hours drain the cup of God’s wrath that would have taken an eternity to pour out on me? How can that be?’  I asked, ‘Who is this man preaching like this?’ and learned that it was one of the seemingly most unlikeliest persons to intersect with the culture of hip-hop, Pastor John Piper of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Minneapolis.” Piper is now the chancellor of Bethlehem College & Seminary.

Bethlehem College & Seminary (bcsmn.edu) offers graduate and undergraduate degree programs on its main campus in Minneapolis and at extension sites in Memphis, Tennessee and Yaoundé, Cameroon. Founded in 2009, the school is accredited by the Association for Biblical Higher Education.
