Chancellor & Professor of Practical Theology and Biblical Exegesis
John Piper is chancellor of Bethlehem College and Seminary. Piper also serves as founder and lead teacher at Desiring God, which began in 1994. For 33 years, Piper served as pastor of Bethlehem Baptist Church, and he is currently chancellor of Bethlehem College and Seminary, both in Minneapolis. His life is dedicated to spreading a passion for the supremacy of God in all things for the joy of all peoples through Jesus Christ.
In addition to authoring more than 50 books—including Don’t Waste Your Life (Crossway, 2003), Desiring God: Meditations of a Christian Hedonist (Multnomah, 1986), and Providence (Crossway, 2021)—Piper has written hundreds of articles, has answered more than 1,700 pastoral and theological questions in the popular Ask Pastor John podcast, and has recorded many Bible studies in the Look at the Book video series. Piper earned degrees from Wheaton College, Fuller Theological Seminary, and the University of Munich. Prior to pastoring at Bethlehem Baptist Church, he taught biblical studies at Bethel College in St. Paul for 6 years.
Piper resides in the Minneapolis area with Noël, his wife of 56 years, and they have 5 children and 16 grandchildren.
