Pre-Conference Breakout Schedule

Monday, 1–4pm

We are pleased to offer five pre-conference breakout tracks. Find more information and session descriptions below.

BREAKOUT TRACK 1 — CAMPUS AT THE CONFERENCE

Word-Work for Preachers and Teachers
Bethlehem professors Dr. Joshua Greever, Dr. Andy Naselli, and Mike Lane will discuss the value of studying God’s Word in its original languages and teach participants how to trace biblical arguments using study tools like Arcing.
Sponsored by Bethlehem College and Seminary

BREAKOUT TRACK 2 — ENGAGING THE GLOBAL CHURCH

Big God Missions: Sending in a Manner Worthy of God
It is the responsibility of local churches to identify, equip, send, and support missionaries. But how? Pastors are already busy. Missions committees often feel ill-equipped. In this breakout, we will explore the foundations for sending missionaries in a manner worthy of God and common errors to avoid.
Sponsored by Training Leaders International

BREAKOUT TRACK 3 — PLANTING AND REVITALIZING CHURCHES

A Band of Burning-Heart Brothers
Session 1 | The Pastor Alone Yet Not Alone – Sean Cordell
Session 2 | Pastoral Brotherhood – Lance Parrott
Session 3 | The Heart Aflame Spreads – Stephen Witmer
Q&A Panel
Sponsored by Treasuring Christ Together Network

BREAKOUT TRACK 4 — SPIRITUAL MINISTRY IN A SECULAR AGE

Secular pressures surround us and our people. Subtly, yet ruinously, they condition us not to see through and behind and beyond the phenomena of our world. Without help, we may fall under their sway, or be hobbled in faith and mission. The teachers of Desiring God hope to open our eyes to our present challenges and awaken us afresh to the unseen God and his unseen world, and help us keep our edge, or get it back, for fruitful ministry in this generation.

Our Unseen Power | Greg Morse
Wherever the unseen Spirit of God is, there is power — power to save and sanctify, to destroy strongholds and deliver captives. However weak we may feel, and however mighty our foes, in Christ we have “a spirit not of fear but of power” (2 Timothy 1:7).

Our Unseen Piety | Scott Hubbard
A spiritual ministry calls for spiritual practices, spiritual methods. We do not battle with the world’s weapons or on the world’s terms. Much of our most important work happens unseen.

Our Unseen Prize | Marshall Segal
The ultimate goal of ministry will not appear in this life. Our glory and crown will come only when Christ comes, only when we enter into the joy now set before us. We labor for a prize unseen, kept for us in heaven.

Q&A Panel | Greg Morse, Scott Hubbard, and Marshall Segal

Sponsored by Desiring God

BREAKOUT TRACK 5 — ABLE TO TEACH?

A Band of Brothers as Pastors and Planters
Session 1 | Defining and Finding: What does it mean to be “able to teach”? How do we assess men? How do we find them? – David Mathis
Session 2 | Raising Up and Training: How do we equip and train such men in our churches? How do we develop a deep bench of elders who can teach? – Kevin McKay
Session 3 | Equipping for Corporate Application: What does it mean to apply scripture corporately? Why should we? – Sam Emadi
Q&A Panel
Sponsored by 9Marks

Training Pastors Across the Globe Dinner
Sponsored by Compel Global

Tuesday, 5:15pm

The average pastor in Africa has less theological training than the average person in your congregation. While the growth of the global church has been explosive, it’s often a mile wide and an inch deep. Through an innovative Biblical Education by Extension model, you can utilize the theological training you have received to help empower millions of pastors throughout the world. Join Compel Global at the Hampton Inn to find out how! Speakers include Compel’s co-founders Steve Harling and Josiah Harling and John Mclaughlin from BEE World. Dinner’s on us! RSVP is required and must be indicated on conference registration.
